MLM's initial product, the bio-ConneKt® Wound Matrix, is a biologic scaffold intended for wound care management. This porous, biocompatible scaffold composed of Type I collagen is chemically stabilized to resist degradation in the wound bed milieu. When placed in the wound-bed, the bioavailable bio-ConneKt® Wound Matrix provides a stable, moisture balanced repair site, potentially allowing host cells to migrate and proliferate resulting in successful wound closure.
In pre-clinical full-thickness wound models, bio-ConneKt® Wound Matrix was able to support robust wound healing and was gradually replaced with healthy granulation tissue over a period of five weeks.
In human clinical cases, we have seen the same type of healing within 6 weeks of implantation on most patients. Intended to be used as a stand-alone product, bio-ConneKt® Wound Matrix is terminally sterilized by ionizing radiation and can be stored at room temperature. The product is manufactured in sizes relevant to the wound and supplied dry requiring only minimal preparation (rapid rehydration) before clinical application. Furthermore, the physio-chemical attributes of bio-ConneKt® Wound Matrix present several advantageous options to the end-user that are optimal for wound healing.
